Memo to … Self

by Lawrence J. J. Leonard

Ever wanted to give that all important communiqué to that ONE PERSON who needed an attitude adjustment, or just begged to be told the way it is? I am just not able to describe the passionate and righteous intensity of that process!

Sometimes that person is me. Sometimes I am the one who should receive that message. In either case, this type of message is not always delivered on time. Missing the opportunity to put someone in their place can be a really GOOD thing. A slow reaction to make this kind of response may be the BEST thing that ever happened to our Personal Brand.

We all know that there are certain people who don’t even know that they are foolish because their power and authority in business, or in our social hierarchy, protects them from getting their comeuppance.

So freaking aggravating, isn’t it?

What causes this condition?

La Malagueña Salerosa – Spanish and English

by Lawrence J. J. Leonard

Malagueña Salerosa” — also known as “La Malagueña” — is a well-known “Son Huasteco” song from Mexico.
It is in the public domain the same way the famous song, Cielito Lindo, is and also is very well-known in the Americas.

Incidentally, Elpidio Ramírez registered the lyrics in 1947. However the song was already known as a type of “Huapango” which is a type of song written “long before the construction of the Cathedral of Huejutla.” In other words, it was already a well-known ballad. So, there seem to be no real claim to the song for Ramirez.

This translation (below) and the American musical interpretation (click link below) are the most culturally accurate and follow the poetic originality in the Huapango tradition. This version is a rock gem!

remember, only you remember

by Lawrence J. J. Leonard

…remember only you remember…
together in places
we left traces of when we last spoke

about make-believe races
purported cases
of out of sync paces

then the laces fall
and if now we talk at all

your memory of loving me fades away
until the day

Bubbl-icious

by Lawrence J. J. Leonard

I confide it. Can’t hide it.
Ask me and I won’t have denied it.
There’s a certain something in your smile.

Each time

When we walk apart
and spend the day
in separate places
I think of the touch of your hand

The first will be last in 2045

by Lawrence J. J. Leonard

The first will be last in 2045 for then we will say “long dead and gone” are
the svengali masters of blood contracts and casting couch management

Yes, the runts, the hapless, the nerdy undersized
  have taken over Commerce.

The allergic, shot taking sissies and hypersensitive mouth breathers
now dictate Fashion and the fabrics we wear.

Book worms who made lists of all the places they would travel
and who loved poetry are the Moguls in Film and TV.

“Long dead and gone” are the mesmerizing masters of secret societies
  and back-door transactions

Those quiet, soft spoken faint of heart, the listeners of song birds
and nature freaks now control the Music Industry.

All athletes who prefer to jog and walk in the evenings
  have redesigned Auto Industry manufacturing.

So many slow to get coordinated, the ones afraid of cars and cycles
surely own and dominate the Energy corridors.

“Long dead and gone” are the hypnotizing masters of stealthy media
  and clandestine relations

The anorexic, the obese, the children with no appreciation for gourmet
govern our Farm, Fish and Game and decide what is nutritious

There is no legacy for the 7 deadly sins. The spoils have been abandoned
by their moneyed vainglorious carcasses. Today the Last are now First.
