Memo to … Self

by Lawrence J. J. Leonard

Ever wanted to give that all important communiqué to that ONE PERSON who needed an attitude adjustment, or just begged to be told the way it is? I am just not able to describe the passionate and righteous intensity of that process!

Sometimes that person is me. Sometimes I am the one who should receive that message. In either case, this type of message is not always delivered on time. Missing the opportunity to put someone in their place can be a really GOOD thing. A slow reaction to make this kind of response may be the BEST thing that ever happened to our Personal Brand.

We all know that there are certain people who don’t even know that they are foolish because their power and authority in business, or in our social hierarchy, protects them from getting their comeuppance.

So freaking aggravating, isn’t it?

What causes this condition?

Every Billionaire’s Secret

by Lawrence J. J. Leonard

My customers ask me all the time, “Where do I place the Treasure Fulcrum?” Okay, so not exactly in those words. What I hear most often is: “Isn’t there an easier way or some secret formula to get lots of money?

Let’s Define Wealth

We know that wealth does not just mean money. It can also be defined as value. It can be defined as our brand. The determining factor is that if some thing is valuable to us, then we can be wealthy by adding more value through honest investment.

These are our assets and they allow us to have a relationship with wealth. This is not a secret.

What is the opposite of ‘bananas’ ?

by Lawrence J. J. Leonard

Let’s see. This is not a trick question, but it is a concern which some Team Leaders should assess when building rapport and especially when mentoring new hires and promotable employees. What does going bananas mean?

The term bananas first appeared in the US in 1942 “The American Thesaurus of Slang: a complete reference book of colloquial speech in the definition for eccentric” with a meaning of: “Balmy, bats, bent, crazy . . .” In 1833 an American slang meaning of the term bent was to be interpreted as intoxicated with alcohol or drugs. So, this just a definition using slang to define other slang.

Hands of time

by Lawrence J. J. Leonard

I see these once tanned hands.
Lots of wrinkly skin around the knuckles.
This means — must have been ready to bend into a new shape at the clinch of a fist.

An ancient act of forgiveness

by Lawrence J. J. Leonard

Many great stories have been told and written
which describe people of good moral character.

Some in the face of temptation
and others in the face of anger and death
are tested from the point of heartbreak  to the point of extinction.

If we as believers are called to be forgiving,
surely our actions will appear as defiant to some
because many of today’s “authoritarians”
do not understand the concept of forgiveness.

Can an argument over an interpretation be good cause to end a relationship?
