I got a Telegram it read: “Already answered.
We know you know these things
come down from above
But see, the Message was supposed to be a question:
“Say, do you know the meaning
or the reason
for love?”

The essence of Cool

Some say integrity is a skill that must be practiced, developed and learned over time.
The same way mathematics must be grasped by the repetition of techniques and formulas.

No way!

Integrity is a choice.
It is an outward expression of an inward belief to do the right thing.
Choosing does not require skill, it requires will.
This is the essence of Cool.

Craftsmen who ply their knowledge in an industry have skills, which are honed each second they work.  Many with years of using their skills, have applied what they know, learning from mistakes.

Not so for the cool ones.
Cool people rest in the knowledge that each second of their lives IS A DECISION.
When we do what we say we will do –  there is no mistake in that.

Integrity is an act.
When good works do the talking, you have nothing more to say.
Silence is only just golden.  Upright deeds?  They are priceless.
This is the essence of Cool.

Philosophers contend that a cup designed to hold liquids, which somehow cannot do so, is equal to a life without integrity.  Still, engineers know that a cup designed to hold liquids, which cannot now do so, can hold something else . . . air.

It is the same with flaws in a person’s character because they mock the truth.
Cool people cannot hold truth to be relative. Why?

Well, there are no levels of truthfulness!
We are, or we are not.  We have, or we have not.  We act accordingly, or we act not.
The truth has a discreet quality about it.

Integrity is a light that can be switched on and is bright.
Each of us must shine a light on our own lives, and see if we speak lip service to truthfulness or if we express truth in our handiwork.
We know where the humble have been.  They told us through their handiwork.
This is the essence of Cool.

Cool is more than cigarettes, money, leather, sports cars, insider knowledge, sexiness, power, youthfulness, fashion, kudos, followers, position, or votes.
Truthfulness is influence. And NOTHING is more influential than a man or woman whose steps are ordered by G_d.
This too is the essence of Cool.
