Keep talking about
each inadequate trait
and every breath becomes a frown
by saying there is no longer a connection
because no reason to care
and this will break off a part. (Why today of all days?)
Interrupt like a school teacher
and when the question is asked
pain will grow behind the eyes.
As the answer comes (I can’t breathe)
remind this one of forgetfulness
because there is only one victim here?
and this will break off another part.
Scoff with comments under each breath
then raise your voice (Wait !)
as if no one has heard this before.
Point a finger and curse whatever
because degradation is power.
Scrape out one fragile piece.
Ignore the pleas.
Declare obvious indifference as
silent tears cascade down to the toes. (But I thought we . . . )
Confused feelings burnt, scattered.
No resuscitation comes.
This breaks the last heart piece in two.
