Into the arms of man

by Lawrence J. J. Leonard

Times changed. They learned the way
and accepting the path G_d ordered.
Each day a struggle to survive,
knowing peace would become the blessing.

Walked the world through name calling.
Let the Lord decide enemies’ fate.
Made our nation safer confronting evil.
Dedication, the quality of a Chief.navajo-servicemen

Staccato dots, dashes, and ancient words
gave the good guys fighting chances.
Every step and breath and movement
were gifts from the quiet men.

Many years the secret was kept
so that pretenders could not advance.
And while true bravery will remain,
we miss their words and insights.

From the loving bosom of heaven
into the arms of man, descended;
and struggled against earth’s wicked tone
endowing many loved ones with hope.
