Corners of the Circle

by Lawrence J. J. Leonard

One corner of the circle
causes morning lines to bend,
the sky to blush a purple
with another day to send.

We chose but can’t diminish
the uniqueness of our fate.
All the plants deepen greenish
from the daylight in our state.

One degree to forty five
the first corner of the sphere.
Point by point we fast arrive
and sun’s altar starts to sear.

Waves of radiation here.
The horizon is alive.
Patterns of the engineer
in it’s wake of overdrive.

Long past noon, but not too late,
twilight forces the finish.
The third corner will not wait.
What was red now turns pinkish.

At one-eighty we attend
to night and its reversal.
The last corner soon to rend
a new day, our new hurdle.
