Thank you for this day and its early morning light.
Thank you for the fog, and wind, and rain.
For the billowy clouds that force the sun to break through
the darkness that was once my soul.
For the special colors in the dawn that bring hope out of
the dullness that was once my past.
Thank you for the special songs of birds
which sound as if they call my name beyond
the stillness that was once living in my heart.
For the good thoughts of longing that call
my soul to return to your loving arms;
whether in the dead of night or the heat of day
the yearning burns.
When the planets align, we will see each other in
purity and joy and justice.
I will thank you for that day, too.
